MakeMusic Finale 2008/09 is probably the best notation software available for the Home Studio and for professionals who need hard copy notation in a quality just shy of professional music engravers.
The complexity of the notation process is simplified by a fairly simple interface, but if you need some special capabilities or are new to the software you'll need to reach for the manual.
Unfortunately, the manual does not exist except in the exhaustive online manual... aka the help files. They are very good and certainly adequate, but if you want to read up on Finale without opening the program... well you are just plain out of luck. Until now there has not been any remedy for this shortcoming.
Enter my humble offering here. What I have done is to hive off the HTML help files from the Finale application and convert them over to the Adobe PDF format with -->fully clickable links<-- within the file. I need to qualify this with "as much as possible" because some of the links in the original file are Java-based, which is not supported within the Adobe framework... thus some links do not work. These links are fortunately quite few.
