Utimaco Safeware AG PrivateDisk ver.2.02.0 Enterprise Edition [h33t][Original]
Foxboro, Mass. and Oberursel, August 24, 2007 / Utimaco – The Data Security Company, today unveiled its new SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.02, an easy-to-use and powerful tool for the encryption of files and folders in virtual devices. SafeGuard PrivateDisk acts as an electronic safe that allows users to protect data and access encrypted data in external environments.
Utimaco Safeware AG PrivateDisk ver.2.02.0 Enterprise Edition - sensitive and valuable data needs protection. It is especially important in mobile environments, where confidential information is at risk of being accessed by unauthorized personnel. Today, many companies and organizations give their staff mobile devices to increase efficiency.
Confidential in-house information such as research results, management analysis, and customer data is stored on these notebooks and PDA's. If this valuable information was on paper, the documents would be kept in locked filling cabinets or safes to protect them from being stolen or read by the wrong people.
Utimaco SafeGuard PrivateDisk gives electronic documents exactly the same protection. SafeGuard PrivateDisk generates an encrypted “virtual” disk drive on the device. This disk is a well-protected electronic safe: any critical, sensitive, and valuable data (e-asset) can be securely encrypted and stored safely on it. You can store the SafeGuard PrivateDisk electronic safe on local hard disks, network directories, PDA's, and on mobile media such as USB and flash memory cards, CD-ROM's, DVD's, and diskettes.
The Enterprise Edition, with its extended configuration and distribution options, is designed to meet the needs of larger organizations.
Utimaco SafeGuard PrivateDisk Portable - is an add-on to our product SafeGuard PrivateDisk. The SafeGuard PrivateDisk Portable ver.188.8.131.52 application allows users to extract files from a memory stick to another portable device or PC, and to read it even if the system has no encryption software installed. This flexibility will greatly benefit the mobile workforce, enabling those who carry memory sticks with encrypted data to meet company security standards as well as read their data anywhere. In addition, SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.02.0 Enterprise Edition offers stronger recovery functions, giving administrators the ability to specify multiple recovery certificates, which are assigned automatically to a new SafeGuard PrivateDisk as soon as it is activated.
SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.02.0 contains the following improvements:
- Support of encryption algorithm AES-256. To create disks compatible with versions before 2.01 you can still use AES-128. To have the highest possible security level create a disk with AES-256.
- New Disk Wizard contains a checkbox where you can select to add the application PD Portable to the destination directory of the newly created PrivateDisk volume in case it is located on a removable media.
Note: Version 2.02 of SafeGuard PrivateDisk uses the AES-256 algorithm by default, while older versions used AES-128 (and did not support AES-256).
SafeGuard PrivateDisk 2.02 is the first of the SafeGuard solutions featuring Windows Vista support and will be followed by the next SafeGuard Enterprise 5.2 release integrating Vista BitLocker Management which will be rolled out this fall.
