Lt. John Boles passes through Archangel and meets a Russian nurse named Veronkha. Boles thinks Veronkha is Iris. Iris is dead. Boles is in love with Iris. Veronkha is married to Philbin. Philbin forgets he is married to Verhonka. Veronka thinks Boles is Philbin. Landlady Danchuk is married to Jannings. Danchuk falls in love with Boles. Boles falls in love with Danchuk. Boles loves Danchuk less than Veronkha. Boles loves Veronkha less than Iris. Confusing?????
