I created this set to dedicate to the greatness of NEC's TurboGrafx16-CD/TurboDuo/PC Engine system. I wanted to share this greatness with you all as I believe this system is not known well enough as some of the other systems out there. I also found that quality TG16/PCE CD images were severely lacking and VERY difficult to obtain. If I may, I would like to discourage others from distributing formats like ISO/MP3/OGG/APE/WAV for CD game images.

I've spent quite some time collecting, verifying and re-packaging these games using a naming convention I created for indentification and archival purposes. Please note that although they have passed using various integrity tools, I did not rip any of these and have not played most of them.

[*] This is the complete TG16/PCE CD USA set consisting of 51 games including 1 unreleased game.
[*] All images are in authentic BIN/CUE format.
[*] Many of the images are ripped from well-known pupils/groups of the NEC scene to guarantee quality (ripper and release infos are noted in each game).
[*] All images have been scanned with TAU Analyzer to verify they are authentic CD copies and not degraded ISO/MP3 rebuilds.
[*] All images have been scanned with CDMage to verify there are no sector errors (certain images would not allow this - other tools and ripper taken into account for verification).
[*] All images have been scanned with TurboRip to verify they have correct TOC information supplied by Necstasy (except two newer images because of protection, but will not affect gameplay).

You'll be getting the complete set of TurboGrafx16-CD/TurboDuo USA games. Each game has been neatly organized into 1 rar file with my ID tag naming convention.

Within each game file are:

[*] BIN/CUE files to burn or mount (you get quality uncompressed CD audio tracks unlike those ISO/MP3/OGG rips).
[*] Front and back CD cover images in JPEG format (if available).
[*] Any release information from the original rippers of the game.

[color=green][size=3]HOW TO USE[/size][/color]

You may burn the BIN/CUE files to CD using your favorite CD burning software. The CDs can then be played on TG16/PCE hardware and through emulators like the PC MagicEngine and XBOX MednafenX-PCE. Alternatively, the BIN/CUE images can be mounted using Daemon Tools or left as is and then played on emulators. You'll need the SuperCD System card ROM for the emulator you wish to use to play these (not provided).

[color=green][size=3]0ldsk00l's NAMING CONVENTION[/size][/color]

I decided to use a naming convention for console CD images. I wanted to be able to archive these games and look back in the future and readily recognize important information for them. I'm including this information here because I know people will be reading the description of this torrent. Remember to verify each image using software tools like TAU Analyzer, CDMage and any console-specific programs.

Let's look at an example:

Vasteel [U][CD][WTG990801][Human][1993][PCE][xeno-nec archives].rar

The format translates to:

Game name [region][type][catalog number][developer][release date][console system][ripper]

[*] Game name = Proper name of the game including correct upper/lowercase for words. Preposition words such as "of" and "in" are in lowercase. In the case of PCE images, Necstasy's naming convention is strictly followed (refer to their TOC database).
[*] [region] = One letter specifying the market for which it was released such as U for USA, J for Japan, E for Europe, etc.
[*] [type] = If the games for this console come in different formats, this tag is specified. For example, PCE CD images can be CD, SCD, ACD, CD.SCD and SCD.ACD. If the console's games are always of one format, ignore this tag.
[*] [catalog number] = Commercially released games usually have a catalog number that identify them. In the case of unreleased, prototype, or beta images, this tag is not included. Catalog numbers can be found on internet database of games of the respective console (may require some searching).
[*] [developer] = The original developer of the game is shown here, NOT the publisher or distributor unless it is the same as the developer.
[*] [release date] = If possible, the exact date the game was released to the public is stated here in MONTH.DAY.YEAR format such as 01.30.1995. If the exact date is not available, then only the year should be included. This tag does not apply to prototypes or others not released for public. Release dates can be found on internet database of games of the respective console (may require some searching).
[*] [console system] = Usually a 3-letter acronym for the system is used such as PCE for PC Engine/TG16, PSX for Playstation 1, SCD for Sega CD, etc.
[*] [ripper] = Here, respect is paid to the original ripper of the game. This is also very important so that we may distinguish among the many rips available of each game. The ripper can be an individual, group or an individual from a group (in this case, use "individual-group name"). This tag is all in lowercase letters and if the ripper is unknown, this tag is ignored.
[*] A tag such as [prototype] should be inserted before the [console system] tag to identify non-commercial games.
[*] Language translated images should have a tag after the [console system] and [ripper] tags. The convention used for this is the same as for GoodSet Roms followed by the translator ["T" "+/-" "Eng/Fr/etc" "percentage completed" "_translator"]:

That concludes my naming convention. I understand sometimes the filenames can get really long, but this is acceptable considering the wealth of information these tags provide.

The games are then packaged in this manner:

[*] The BIN and CUE files are both named with the above naming convention. Remember to edit the CUE file to point to the correct BIN filename.
[*] Front, back and media images in JPEG format are included, also named with the above naming convention. Tags like [front], [back], [cd], [box.front], [box.back] are ammended to the name. For example, the front and back covers would be named like this:

[*] Any release information or text files included by the original ripper are included. These filenames are left as is (do not rename them to the above naming convention).
[*] Finally, all these files are placed in a directory and compressed to a single filename using the naming convention with methods such as RAR or 7zip.

The result is you get 1 identified and compressed file with the BIN/CUE, images and release notes all packaged together.
I hope users will implement this naming convention for TG16/PCE rips as well as other systems like SegaCD, PSX, etc.
