I uploaded this torrent yesterday, but had some problems with it. Also it should have a better name so search engines can find it. Hence, another (and final) upload today.

This is a parody both of Asterix and of American cultural influence in the Europe of the 1980's. It is one of a handful of Asterix parodies available at the time, none of which are available today.

In fact, Alcolix is presently unavailable for sale in any market, but was originally published in 1989 for the German and French markets. The present edition is the German edition, minus the front cover, as I forgot to scan it back in the day, and I no longer have access to it. Alcolix has never been available in English, so I have translated it, despite my poor German skills.

I have rarely (if ever) seen Alcolix listed for distribution as a torrent. I think it merits distribution, though, both for artistic reasons, and even more so for historical reasons, because legal battles over its publication helped to clarify certain legal concepts concerning parodies in German law. Also, for English speakers, it provides an interesting German viewpoint on American struggles with issues that are still relevant today, such as health care and America's acting as global policeman.

Though it consists mostly of original material by Jens Jeddeloh, it also includes a four-page excerpt from the National Lampoon (by "Cliff"), entitled "Tim Tim in Lebanon," which satirizes the Reagan Administration's (and perhaps America's) xenophobia about Arabs, and their characterization of the Soviet Union as the "Evil Empire."
